Re-Engineering an old process

In the old days, most institutions had a number of calligraphers who were retained to manually produce diplomas one by one. They were usually beautiful, were very expensive, and took weeks to produce.

In the last 10 years or so, diplomas have generally been produced by inhouse graphics departments using page creation programs such as Quark Xpress, Adobe InDesign, or Aldus Pagemaker. A desktop publishing specialist would cut and paste names, degrees, faculties, and other variable information into pre-defined templates. Once each degree was complete they would save a PDF file and then send these PDF files to a printer where they would be overprinted onto diploma masters. Needless to say, this was also very laborious and time consuming.

Within the past few months, the above clients have implemented versions our automated print creation systems to dramatically improve their productivity, reduce their turnaround times, and reduce their costs.

Fednav Limited is a major Montreal based transportation company with offices all across North America. They have rolled out a system linked through their intranet that allows their employees to create, proof, and order their own business cards online.

Concordia University, Montreal's largest English University, implemented a fully featured system that allows both end-users and faculty administrators to order both business cards and stationery items through their inplant printing facility. This system alone is being used by approximately 5,000 people and has been a huge success.

The University of Montreal, Canada's second largest university with more than 55,000 students, has also implemented a comprehensive system that allows end-users to create a variety of print materials via both offset and digital workflows.

PPS - Personal Print System

Now you can empower your users to create and print their own personal print materials that are fully compliant with your corporate ID standards. With our new Personal Print Systems, your users can have access to state of the art online tools to put them in charge of their printing needs using their own personal ink jet or laser printers.

By simply logging onto your intranet site, your users will be able to create CD/DVD labels/inserts, name badges, note pads, file folder labels, address labels and the list keeps growing. The system allows them to automatically create and proof an online PDF which is then used to overprint generic or custom designed templates which have been previously supplied by your inplant or commercial printer. Our systems ensure the highest quality typography and perfect, consistent design for all products produced - giving you total graphic control and greatly improved productivity.

Our systems are simple to use - users need only have a current browser like IE6 or FireFox and Adobe Acrobat. Our programmers provide your inplant or printer with customized masters that have been carefully prepared for high quality printing. Your users can order either kits or individual masters directly from the site. Once they have the generic or custom masters, they simply create the appropriate item, load their printer with the corresponding master, and print.
